not slacking

no, i haven't been slacking with my blogging, we just came back from a whirlwind camping trip! it was a lot of fun, and i took many photos.
we went to 3 different campsites and booked them all from the discover camping website, which is an amazing tool. our first stop was manning park near hope, and then monck park on nicola lake near merritt, and finally birkenhead park just north of pemberton.
there's a lot to share and i'll be writing it over 3 different posts so bear with me!

my garden is bursting with flavour this year! first strawberries, and now raspberries! they're not supposed to be ripe for another few weeks i thought, but some were just too ready to resist. i got about 1/2 pint of those little gems and there's more still on the vines. now for the money shots:


i'll post about the cookies another time, needless to say they were enjoyed.

it's been way too hot to bake here- bad for my boredom, good for my strawberries! late last year i was given one strawberry plant and it spread and grew and spread some more...so from that one plant in only one year i picked about a pint of fresh super sweet strawberries from my own garden! woot!
here's a shot from ella's dress rehearsal. the ballet was called "sleepover spoiled". it's hard to see, but that's our girl getting her hair pulled and throwing the popcorn up in the air. it was too funny- during the show she made her startled face, giggled a bit, and went back to the face. like we didn't notice! cheekythis is my boy. kaliedascope and magnifying glass at the same time.

i'll get to more baking once it's cooled down a bit.

i ordered some pint sized business cards and stickers (still yet to arrive) from moo. for 20 bucks american you can create 100 business cards, 99 of which can have different photos. i chose 6 or 7 different pics of my baking for my cards and stickers. there's many other items you can customize, or use their stock sets. the cards have a really nice matte finish and are half the height of the size of regular business cards.

i can't wait to get the stickers!

small business???

i've been thinking a lot these days about starting up my own cookie store. well, not just cookies, but cupcakes, too. and cakes. but i like candy, too. o, and i love coffee. maybe a cafe type thing. we only have one in our neighbourhood currently and rumour has it that a starbucks will be moving into the building that is taking forever to be finished. i think it started in 2004 and is still not yet completed! i really like the idea of cupcakes! but i don't like that you really can't sit and enjoy them there. i also don't like getting up too early. i know, sucks if i want to be a baker.

i'm completely obscessed about the idea and i'm overwhelmed... anyone out there know where to start?

family fun weekend

saturday morning started off with a little sprinkling of snow while ella and i were running around town... first to dance class, and then to a birthday party for her good friend grace at build a bear. as usual she had a blast and a huge thank you goes to grace's mother and grandmother! by the time sunday rolled around our plans to go and see enchanted went to the wayside. there was just too much snow and i wasn't about to go risk life and limb driving in that mess just to see a movie.
so, we bundled up and went to the park with the toboggan with all the rest of the neighbourhood kids!

after we were too wet and cold to stay out any longer, we came inside to warm up with hot chocolate and spiced apples over cinnamon pancakes! mmm, man they were good!

no time for doodles

yeah, i'm a bit of a slacker these days when it comes to drawing in my sketchbook. actually i think i did some drawings in it a while back, but never got around to scanning them in. in the last few weeks i've taken on a lot of extra work, from freelancing at nitrogen to sewing stuff for ella's ballet. also making valentines for all the kids in her class, plus friends outside of school/classroom and the girls in sparks (girl guides). i know, life is rough waaaaah ! johnny t, whom i sit beside at work, gave me the files for the harry potter audio book series. LOVE IT! thanks johnny t!!! okay, i guess that's enough rablin' for tonight.. i've got revisions and cookies to make!


the drawing is for my friend kaaren and it will go in her living room where she and her family have a band set up. she's really into sewing (owns 26 sewing machines) and textiles and that's why the paisley...
